Myself and fellow Rose member Xija were tasked to ask around Goldshire to see if any of the citizens had seen the missing children, Justin and Emily.
Most of the town of Goldshire seemed content to ignore us; it was hard to get an answer out of anybody. There were only two who responded to us in any manner. The first appeared to have had too much to drink, as all he did was vomit and babble incoherently at us. The second suggested that we should look around the nearby pond; no reason was given, but we didn't have a better course of action, so to the pond we went.
We saw no evidence of the children at the pond - no footprints of the right size, no discarded toys or personal effects, nothing. However, after conversing amongst ourselves, we realized there had been a good reason to look around the pond - if the children were lost for as long as they had been, they would need water, so it was logical to search around all nearby sources of fresh water for them. With that decided, we headed southwest, and began to search along the bank of the river forming the border between Elwynn Forest and Duskwood.
We did find child-sized footprints by the river, but they were too old to have been from the children since they went missing. So once again, we were stuck with nothing to do but follow the bank and look for further clues. Then Xija got the idea that perhaps the Defias had something to do with the kids; they apparently had a camp not far from us along the river.
Their camp consisted of a house with a dock next to it; we stayed at a safe distance and observed them for a while. There seemed to be quite a bit of activity there - lots of people were going between the house and the dock, as if they were preparing to ship something. They were talking amongst themselves, but we were too far to hear clearly, so we waited for a lull in the activity, swam underwater through the river, and came up underneath the dock. From here, we could hear much more clearly, and they couldn't see us. The back and forth shipping activity on the dock continued, but the conversation didn't yield anything we could really use - they talked about an "operation," but they didn't get any more detailed than that. Perhaps it involved the children somehow? We neither saw nor heard any evidence of the kids, so we didn't know - and we couldn’t think of a reason the Defias would be interested in kidnapping a pair of farmers' children. However, we agreed the activity was at least worth reporting.
We don't know where the children are, and the only potential lead we have (although it seems unlikely) is the increased Defias activity and "operation."
