I'm not even really sure what to think now. My brain is being torn in many directions at once. I'm certain that I don't have all the details, but from what everybody else was talking about, the King of Stormwind has declared war on the Horde.
Perhaps it's because I'm a relative outsider to this conflict, but I've already had a lot of trouble understanding the Horde and Alliance split — neither side, as a whole, seems particularly evil. I will, of course, grant that there are members of both factions that are bad and shouldn't be tolerated, but each faction's policy as a whole does not appear to be bad to me, so I find it silly to consider attacking on sight any member of the opposing faction until they further prove themselves to be worthy of such treatment.
From my limited observation, it's seemed that for the past few years that the Alliance and Horde are like two sisters fighting — sure, they might lash out at each other, get mad, or argue, but at the end of the day, they don't really hate each other.
The King of Stormwind (by his position, a representative of the Alliance as a whole) declaring war on the Horde for what sounds like a personal grudge is like stabbing your sister in the back. It's something that you just don't do.
So the act of declaring war in this case is absolutely wrong, and such an act would be something that would make me consider the person declaring it to be bad. Okay, that's fine in normal situations, but this is the King. By definition, he represents the faction as a whole, so if the faction is good, then it seems like he must be good too. But he isn't, he just isn't!
The only conclusion I can draw from this is that he does not deserve to be king.
I don't know what this means, though. I have no intention to act on this — an attack against the King is an attack against everyone he represents, technically including myself. I've certainly heard some dissent on his actions, but I can't see what can be done about them, other than simply refusing to obey orders to attack the Horde as a whole. And in that case, I'm being wrong by not following the rules.
I don't know what to do, and I really hope it doesn't come down to a situation where I'm forced to decide if I should attack innocent Horde members.
